DAVE ELLIOTT

Brighton Bar Billiards had some sad news to end 2009 with the passing of Dave Elliott. A Brighton Bar Billiard legend, Dave, won the Brighton Singles in the days when it had over 200 players with back to back titles in 1976 & 1977. He also won 2 doubles titles (with another Brighton legend John Sullivan) and 5 mixed doubles titles. He made a Brighton League reappearance recently at the Stadium playing with his son Chris and made the quarter finals of the 2008 singles. Our condolences go out to Pat & Chris at this sad time.

Kevin Tunstall - Some sad news to end 2009. I spoke to Chris Elliott earlier this evening and he informed me that his father Dave had passed away on Sunday. 
I only met Dave about 3 years ago so wouldn`t confess to knowing him as well as some of you out there in Brighton, but he was a lovely guy to talk to on the occasions we did meet.

Steve Mariner - I was saddened to hear of Dave’s passing. I spent several happy years playing Dave on Saturday lunchtimes at the Romans. He pretty much showed me every shot on the table, and a few more.
I didn’t get to see Dave in his heyday, being the mid 1970’s, as this was long before I started, but I know he won the Brighton Singles, and in those days you were up against 200 players, so just winning the title once would have been an achievement, Dave managed it twice.
Rest in peace Dave, thanks for all those lessons.
