Brian
Bartrum secures first lower division singles title
Brian
Bartrum ,of the Windmill B, won a closely fought lower division masters final
against three time winner Simon Christian. Brian was up from the first leg where
he was against the break and held the lead until Simon got the break back at the
end of the second and fell just 500 points short. Brian beat some tough
opponents on the way, both Colin Green and Steve Hurley from the Grenadier. Kevin
Stoner took out the number 1 seed Tony Jenner, but alcohol seemed to get the
better of him as he lost his semi-final to Simon Christian. It was a struggle to
get to the 16 players, as a few who had qualified did not show, which was
disappointing, but it was nice to see some new players take part in the
competition for the first time.
