JIM PARSONS Jim Parsons passed away Nov 2008 - here are some messages left on the bar billiards forum -
- Sadly I am
posting this message today to record the death of a well respected team mate.
Jim died after a long fight against cancer on the 29th of November. Jim Parsons
played Bar Billiards in the Brighton League for more years than probably even he
could remember, for at least the last ten years he played at the Stadium, and
most recently for the Stadium A. He was a well loved character in the game and
we will all miss his in- depth comments - 'come on we need this one' we needed
every one of them Jim! - Sad to hear this news Alan, don't think I ever got the chance to play Jim - he always seemed to play Marcus in our team (and he was a bit of a bunny for Marc as Jim was 3-2 up on him according to my records!) Yes I got Jim playing for Ladies Mile in the 80's. Also Jim played at the Wilmington and Constant Service, before joining the Stadium A since around 1993. A true gent of the game and I will miss him when we next play the Stadium A. - Nigel Senior - Sorry to hear this sad news, Jim was one of the true gents of the game and I will remember some good tussles I had with him over the years. Will truely be missed and thoughts go out to his family and team mates at this time. Tony Jenner. -
Although we shared the same surname we were not related. I played against Jim
many times over the years and always found him to be good company and, as Tony
has said, to be a true gentleman. I'm sure that Jim will be missed by all. On
behalf of everyone at the Duke of Wellington, our thoughts are with Jim's family
and all connected with the Stadium team - Chris Parsons. - When I played in the Brighton league for the Snipe Jim then played for the Ladies Mile and it was always a pleasure to play him even though when I did play him he would always beat me.I believe he also played at the Long man pub in Carden Avenue as well.He will be sadly missed.I have only saw this post today otherwise I would have attented the funeral - Paul Blackburn Individual Trophies Won
