The final as it should be was played in a friendly spirit. The Windmill has already beaten the Brewery Tap in the league stages , so were confident of taking the title. Leg 1: Chris got a kick early on in his break, and never recovered the balls back. Leg 2: Nigel started off with only 1,150 and should have been punished, but Brian let him off the hook and Nigel regained the break, this time making no mistake and rolling in 8k. Leg 3: Richard struggled missing several early chances, allowing Paul to put the Windmill 2-1 up. Leg 4: Gareth, a classy performer at any level, and just the sort of player you want in any tight situation, kicked off with a faultless 9k, to level the match at 2-2. Leg 5: The decider was a nervy affair, neither player able to take charge. Thus it came down to the final ball, the 100 hole would decide where the trophy went. Marc had the first opportunity, but the ball sailed past below the 100. Gareth overcompensated by bringing the ball inside. Marc adjusted but again the ball passed the 100 without threat. Gareth had a chance, the ball was on the line but stopped less than an inch short, agony! This had to be Marc's last chance as Gareth would surely not miss again. He steadied himself, aimed and let the ball go. Success! this time there was no mistake, the ball disappeared down the hole and the Tap were ecstatic. Gareth ever the sport, offered his hand in congratulations. Bad luck the Windmill, well done the Tap. What a cracking final....
