In the main comp final between the Romans B (nee Brewery tap) and the Stadium A. It looked like business as usual for the Romans as Nigel made the Horseshoes table look very easy stating with a very comfortable and indeed very large break. Steve Hurley couldn't muster significant response so 1-0 to the Romans

In Game 2 Brian Muggeridge got a couple of thousand on the board before Marcus Chipman had a go - Marcus was off quite early and Brian played steadily to win by about 5K.

Game 3 was between Richard Wooton and yours truly (Alan Messer). The Romans captain was off early with only a thousand. Alan took his break and got to about four before the effects of his op got to him. After that it was a bit of a scramble, which Alan had the better of and Lo and behold the Stadium were 2-1 ahead.

In Game 4 it was back to the business of High scoring. This time the break player was Chris Elliott - although it wasn't his break that was the winner. Chris went off with 2K - Steve Mariner put in an 8k which proved to be enough despite a spirited last throw by Chris.

The final game and Chris Reeves could only start with a 1K break. Stadium Skipper Mick Pope got even less with his effort. Chris built on his lead and had about 5 on the board when Mick got the break back. With time to catch him Mick played a methodical break and got to within 500 points before inexplicably leaving the 1 up short. Chris finished off the game and ...

The Romans were the winners of a what turned it a very tight game 3-2

Congratulations to them and all talk of illegal spots ::) :o :P will be aired at the Brighton AGM

Many thanks for the hospitality shown by the Shoes and see everyone at the quiz next week.
